Flood Magazine debuts new Will Stewart single “A Week Ago”

willstewart3“Will Stewart’s Twitter bio advertises “Rock and/or Roll,” and though his music may not be as organ-heavy as something by, say, I. Ron Butterfly, it seems safe to say that Reverend Lovejoy would indeed place it in the same category. The guitars are sultry but slick, and the mood is heavy but laid-back. Oh yeah, this is rock and roll alright.” READ MORE…

Purevolume debuts new Vulture Whale single “Aluminium”

Vulture Whale Aluminium Baby Robot Media Cornelius Chapel Records Birmingham

“In recent years, a new breed of Southern rockers has emerged and reinterpreted the swervy blues to create a groovin’ indie sound that has allowed bands like Deerhunter and the Black Lips to shine. Though not from Atlanta like those groups, Birmingham-based rockers Vulture Whale continue that trend. Their moody indie rock sound is sharp and has muscular riffs that lock you in. We’re premiering their “Aluminium” from their forthcoming album that showcases the best of the powerful quartet has to offer. With an acoustic intro, the song suddenly takes a sharp turn and recalls some of the indie giants of the late ’90s.” READ MORE…

Verbicide Magazine debuts “Corner Girl” by Through the Sparks

Through the Sparks Birmingham Alabama psychedelic folk rock band Jody Nelson James Brangle Greg Slamen Shawn Avery Nikolaus Mimikakis baby robot media publicity pr

Over the course of the group’s decade-plus career, front man Jody Nelson has penned some dark songs about real-life subjects: the encroachment of death, the absurdity of modern life, the tribulations of the American office rat, the insatiable wanderlust of contemporary suburbia. It was beginning to wear on him — and, he suspected, on his audience. Transindifference, however, marks a subtle, yet meaningful, shift for Through the Sparks, especially for Nelson. “I wanted to be less dark about things,” he says. “I wanted to put some positivity in there. After I stepped back from the album, I realized that the scope had widened. The pendulum had swung the other way.” READ MORE…
