Ditty TV Premieres Sara Rachele’s New Video for Burt Bacharach Cover, “Anyone Who Had a Heart”

DittyTV is pleased to present a world premiere video from indie folk/alt country artist Sara Rachele, whose new album, Scorpio Moon, was released earlier this month on Angrygal Records.

Scorpio Moon is Rachele’s most sophisticated collection of songs to date, submerged in ’60s pop, country, folk, Americana and jazz. Rachele covers what she describes as “the most challenging take [she’s] ever recorded in the studio,” with her new rendition of “Anyone Who Had a Heart,” originally written by Burt Bacharach and gifted to Dionne Warwick in 1963. Rachele adds, “This is one of my favorite Bacharach songs, and the idea of being caught in love, trapped and simultaneously free is—well, confounding. We are who we are, wherever we go, sometimes trapped within our own hearts. You can be lonely anywhere, and you can also be free.”

After uploading the aptly-titled “Demo no. 1” to SoundCloud around a year ago, Live Miranda Solberg found herself something of a viral sensation. The Norwegian folk artist was invited to play Øya and by:Larm festivals without an official solo release to her name. Given her work with Americana outfit Silver Lining, this isn’t her first time in the spotlight, but it is with the wispier elegance of her new solo effort, Louien. Now, she is preparing for the release of her solo debut, None of My Words, on 20 September via Jansen.

Americana Highways presents this video premiere of Judy Blank’s “Tiger Eye Stone.” “Tiger Eye Stone” is Judy Blank on vocals & acoustic guitar, Joe Dickey on bass, Ethan Ballinger on electric guitar and Andrew Peebles on drums with Mark Addison Chandler on backing vocals.  The album, Morning Sun, was produced by Chris Taylor & Judy Blank. The video was directed and filmed by Johan Verhoeven of Cinecult productions.

“Tiger Eye Stone” is the lyrical tale of a promise ring and the comfort it brings to know somebody back home loves you, when you’re far away.  The video has stunning artistic footage as it follows the ring during the travels: “I’m not alone, my baby gave me a ring with a tiger eye stone.”   We’ve all had talismans to bring us comfort, and this song tugs at those feelings.  Judy Blank’s Morning Sun is an indie folk ray of sunshine.

Even amidst so many albums that we love, there are a few in each person’s life that save us, soothe us, heal us, and hold us again and again for decades. Their timelessness is found mainly in the songwriting with a story-telling so deep and true that not even years can diminish the potency.

Now 30 years old, Shawn Colvin’s Steady On has weathered the decades beautifully because the songs are just SO GOOD. Like, ridiculously brilliant. Not just to fans or critics, but to peers and poets of various generations, as well.
