Married to each other & the road: Gringo Star and Shantih Shantih share tour photos with Impose Magazine

Atlanta-based garage/alt-rock collectives Gringo Star and Shantih Shantih have several things in common. Not only are they music aficionados who went on tour together this spring, but clearly they have similar taste in music and people. Two members of Gringo Star are happily married to two members of Shantih Shantih. So the term “all in the family” applies to this situation, in the best way possible. The fact that there is so much talent on display is absolutely ridiculous, but the best part is that they nabbed some amazing disposable shots during their tour together in May, exclusively for Impose. Ghettoblaster Magazine premieres Wright Brothers’ new single “My Bucketlist”

Growing up in the Park Hill neighborhood of Denver, Colorado, brothers Jahmar and Dio Wright were surrounded by music from the jump. Their grandma’s house was ground zero for music, dancing and creating. The Wright Brothers earliest memories are of dance parties with flashing DJ lights cutting the smoky air. And their uncle’s funk band was always laying it down in grandma’s basement. READ MORE…

Since forming in 2011, Karen and the Sorrows have become integral members of the Brooklyn queer country scene, helming both Brooklyn’s Gay Ole Opry Festival and the Queer Country Quarterly. The alt-country trio is also busy with their own musical career, prepping a new album, The Narrow Place, for August 25.

New The Narrow Place track “Do It for Myself” is a twangy tale of lost love, paying homage to classic country with gentle pedal steel and lush vocal harmonies.

PopDust premieres video for “Change Your Mind (You Should Be Mine)” by Sara Rachele

Sara Rachelle

PopDust Premiere

You’re standing alone inside an abandoned warehouse. The lofty coolness is brittle against your skin. The darkness seeps through the cracks of the splintered wood, the moonlight tossing its fingertips along the cement. But in the far corner, there is a waxy, half-burned, charred but dazzling candle–the glow of her voice envelopes and warms you. Sara Rachele, whose timbre is equal parts Dusty Springfield, Stevie Nicks and Kate Bush, has already cemented her position on the fringes of folk, pop and rock, marrying those sensibilities into a flighty and substantial body of work.

2014’s debut record, Diamond Street, set a remarkable precedent, her vocal wrapped neatly and fluidly around hearty stock standouts like “Devil That I Know,” “Appalachian Rain” and the Thomas Hall-assisted number “Don’t Give Me Hell.” Now, with her latest entry in her flourishing catalog, “Change Your Mind (You Should Be Mine)” is pensive and intimately sweeping. “This song is one of those tunes I wrote about one situation, that actually ended up being about something else entirely,” she tells Popdust, who premieres the filtered, black-and-white clip today. Huffington Post premieres Cousin Dan’s video for “Something in the Water”

Under a hail of bullets, everything changed for Cousin Dan, Atlanta’s favorite leopard-print and mirrored-codpiece-wearing, underground fancy man. He’d been at a secluded bar all night, sending off a lady friend bound for Florida. As he sauntered to his car, a lipstick kiss on each cheek and a slight buzz washing over him, he noticed two figures emerging from the shadows. READ MORE
