Venerable Georgia rock band Drivin N Cryin have announced the new album Live the Love Beautiful. Produced by Aaron Lee Tasjan — who played guitar for the group for two years before launching his own successful solo career — the 11-track album highlights the quality mix of Southern rock, country and folk that Drivin N Cryin have been perfecting since forming in the mid-Eighties.
DL Rossi has weathered many storms ranging from a bout with testicular cancer to a failed marriage. The Nashville-based Americana artist’s wizened heart, however, rings with truth and a reminder to keep being “Better”. The singer-songwriter’s latest single release, “Better” is a song steeped in both the light and darkness of his recent life situation. Carried by layers of acoustic and electric guitars and reverb-awash, melancholic piano, Rossi has produced a compelling, heartfelt ballad out of a brutally honest note-to-self. Another stirring entry into his upcoming album, A Sweet Thing, due on 12 April, “Better” is a surefire sign of more searingly sincere songwriting from Rossi soon to be available.

San Francisco multi/artist Rebecca Mimiaga AKA: LOUIZA, will release her new album Swim At Night on April 5th. The full-length was produced by James Riotto, known for his work with The Mountain Goats, tUnE-yArDs, and Ezra Furman at John Vanderslice’s Tiny Telephone Studios in Oakland, (St. Vincent, Spoon, The Mountain Goats). Ahead of the album’s release, LOUIZA, has shared the new single “Brilhante.” A song which we are throughly enjoying, and reminds us of tUnE-yArDs, with a bit of M.I.A. and Joni Mitchell thrown in, for a fine combination.
‘Grassy Trails’ was a lot of fun to record. It was right in everyone’s wheelhouse stylistically. Dave Roe and Jimmy Lester really were the perfect guys for this track. They set the pace for the rhythm and Jon Estes came in and laid down some nice pedal steel. If you listen close, Jimmy Lester plays my favorite bell pattern in that second chorus. This song has taken a few different shapes since I wrote it but it is one I always play at every show. I know it’s cliché to say this but I have loved trains since I was a kid and always dreamt about riding the rails. I use to go out and sit next to the tracks when I was younger and just watch the trains go by up close. That’s really where the song came from. I grew up reading Jack Kerouac and other beat writers and hearing about their adventures on trains. Those stories always stuck with me and created a feeling I have been chasing ever since. It seemed fit to put it on this record, Wanderin’ Fool.” — David Quinn
