Bio

House Harkonnen are an American band from Arlington, TX. Their musical style has been described as “Sludge Punk” and “Slop Rock”. Since 2009 House Harkonnen have released two full length LP’s and one 7 inch. The band are known for their high energy/volume live performances and have played/toured with bands such as Fu Manchu, ASG, Fair to Midland, Torche, Chrome, Mastadon, The Dwarves, Harvey Milk, Valient Thorr, Ramming Speed, Truck Fighters, Crobot, Mothership, Corrosion of Conformity, Saint Vitus, and The Toadies.

House Harkonnen were originally formed in 2002 by Alex Johnson (vocals, guitar) and Mike Doty (Guitar). After releasing several demos the band split up in 2005 before reforming in 2009 with Andy Grayson (Drums) and Dave Shafer (Bass). 2010 saw the release of the bands first full length album, Volume 6. This album solidified the bands musical style and after proving to be a success in Texas the band started touring the states. Volume 7 would follow in 2012 along with a 7 inch single in 2013. The band continues to tour and are scheduled to release a new album in winter 2014.

The shop specializes in customized music and sounds for brands and programming, ranging from goofy to solemn, such as a patriotic melody underlining NFL players reading the Declaration of Independence—another promo Tunewelders did for this year’s Super Bowl audience. Guitarist Ben Holst is co-founder, producer and creative director of Tunewelders. He and co-founder Jeremy Gilbertson work with Jason Shannon and Vic Stafford to tap into what he calls the backlash against “overcomputed, overprocessed” music and the movement toward “organic and authentic” sounds coming from real instruments. Zoners

Started in January 2013 as a home-recording project by Matt McCalvin (previously of Gringo Star, Mermaids & Dinos Boys), Zoners is a combination of jittery synths, slicing hooky guitars, barreling bass lines and machine-precise drums creating a full force wall of sound. It wasn’t long before McCalvin put together a proper band, and started playing shows with an impressive list of bands—Speedy Ortiz, The Coathangers, Dog Bite, Subsonics, Beach Day, Diarrhea Planet, The Queers, Sleepy Sun and Those Darlins.

Zoners gelled quickly and plans were made for a release on the bands own Destroy Music label. Recording began in the winter of 2013 at the band’s studio, Sofa City, for a four-song split 7-inch with the simpatico ATL band Onchi. McCalvin and company walked out of the studio with a pair of blown out, blistering songs, full of creeping synths, guttural screams and heavily effected guitars and vocals.

Crossing the full sonic spectrum of punk and New Wave while recalling the sounds of early ‘80s California hardcore, Zoners nod to classic influences while simultaneously tearing the old sounds kicking and screaming into the now without a hint of nostalgia. The band will release the Zoners/Onchi split on April 15. The songs are the first taste of Zoners forthcoming 13-song LP Chill ‘Em All, tentatively slated for a late 2014 release on Destroy Music.
