Wide Open Country Premieres Boo Ray’s “A Tune You Can Whistle”

Southern troubadour Boo Ray is back with a bang. The singer is gearing up to release his new album Tennessee Alabama Fireworks (out on Feb. 15). Today, Wide Open Country is premiering the album’s debut single “A Tune You Can Whistle,” a trucker anthem that doubles as a sociopolitical manifesto set to a honky tonk beat.

“One nation under the influence of a cell phone computer screen,” Ray sings on the dynamic track. “One nation under the influence of benzodiazepine.”

Ray said the song was inspired by the current cultural climate and the ongoing struggle to communicate with one another amidst a whirlwind of distractions, struggles and anxieties.

Andrew Leahey’s Live Performance of “Make It Last” Premieres on Wide Open Country

Nashville-based singer-songwriter Andrew Leahey celebrates life on his forthcoming album Airwaves (out on March 1). Leahey began writing the album while recuperating from a lifesaving brain operation and was drawn to vivacious songs that acknowledge the joy of being alive.

Among those songs was the anthemic, guitar-driven “Make it Last,” which represented a turning point for Leahey.

Wide Open Country Premieres New Roses and Cigarettes track “Echoes and Silence”

Los Angeles-based Americana duo Roses & Cigarettes first entered the scene with their 2015 self-titled album. Since then the duo, made up of Jenny Pagliaro and Angela Petrilli, has made a name for themselves as the embodiment of the SoCal country-rock sound, opening for Jim Lauderdale, Elizabeth Cook, Amanda Shires and more.

Now Roses & Cigarettes is gearing up to release their sophomore album Echoes and Silence (out on Feb. 22), a bold collection of songs recorded during an incredibly trying time for the duo. New Music Video for Grand Canyon’s “Kansas City” Premieres on Wide Open Country

Los Angeles-based folk-rock band Grand Canyon deliver an ode to the open road with “Kansas City.”  The song celebrates getting back to your roots over a ’70s rock groove that would sound at home on a mixtape between Fleetwood Mac and Jackson Browne.

Lead singer Casey Shea says the tune was partially inspired by the classic Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller song of the same name, which was recorded by Little Richard, The Beatles and more.

Wide Open Country premieres Charles Wesley Godwin’s live video of “Here in Eden”

West Virginia-based singer-songwriter Charles Wesley Godwin carries on the respected tradition of story telling of his native Appalachia on his debut album Seneca (out on February 15). The 26-year-old artist, who’s shared bills with Tyler Childers, Shooter Jennings, Aaron Watson, Colter Wall and more, started singing after being cut from auditions for the West Virginia University football team. Turns out, that failed audition was kismet.

Godwin displays his sincerity, emotional depth and warm vibrato in the live performance video of his soul-searching tune “Here in Eden,” which Wide Open Country is premiering today.
