Authority Magazine interviews Rick Hornyak for Rising Stars feature, ahead of new album, Dandelion (out July 21)
Austin heartland rocker Rick Hornyakâs new album Dandelion (out July 21) meshes jangly, ringing guitars with introspective and honest lyrics. He challenges notions of toxic masculinity while purging his childhood trauma through the love of his wife and child. His raw and emotive vocals have the familiarity of Tom Petty, the urgency of The Replacements and the alt-country gravitas of Alejandro Escovedo.

Brooklyn Vegan shares the new single/video from The Handsome Family, “Joseph,” along with the announcement of their 11th album, Hollow.
Folk duo The Handsome Family, whose song “Far from Any Road” soundtracked the main theme for season one of True Detective, are back with a new album, Hollow. It’s their eleventh LP, the follow up to 2016’s Unseen, and it’s due out on September 8. “Weâre astonished to be breathing,” Rennie Sparks says, “let alone still be inspired to write songs and sing together. Thereâs been a lot of smashed coffee cups in our house over the years, but weâre still unable to resist the urge to make music.” She wrote all the lyrics on the album, and her husband Brett Sparks wrote and recorded all the music, and played most of the instruments. Dave Trumfio mastered, and you can see the tracklist below.
Americana UK reviews Jax Hollow’s new LP, Only the Wild Ones, calling it “Americana at its most expressive.” 9/10
Recorded in Nashville she has assembled a fine body of backing musicians who have worked with the likes of k.d.lang, Brothers Osborne, and Miranda Lambert to name but a few. Her guitar work honed with playing over two hundred shows a year is exceptionally clean and precise. Not only that her vocals are also very strong throughout, reminiscent on a number of tracks of Sheryl Crow at her finest.
AmericanaUK debuts new cover of Mariah Carey‘s “Can’t Let Go” from Leeann Skoda, calling it “a gorgeously sullen Americana (or, as Skoda likes to call it Mariah-cana) rendition.”
âCanât Let Goâ makes up one of three tracks on the Los Angeles singer/guitaristâs new EP, âLiving Room Sessions, which will be released on May 26th. Itâs a release that was inspired by The Grand Ole Echo, a weekly Sunday music series every summer at The Echo in Silverlake, at which Leeann Skoda has been a regular participant.
