Gary Hayes Country Features Charles Wesley Godwin’s “Seneca”

This does not feel like a debut record.  Charles Wesley Godwin’s Seneca is very deep and well thought out both in the lyrics and the music.  It’s a songwriter’s album, but at the same time the music is very layered. This album is a love letter to Godwin’s home state of West Virginia and the Appalachian region as a whole.  Let’s take a dive into some of these tracks.

The album kicks off with “(Windmill) Keep On Turning”.  This track tells a tale of the hard times and hard living in the the West Virginia countryside.  The track carries a nice beat and I love the harmonica work throughout. Another favorite track is “Hardwood Floors”.  It’s a simple story about two lovers going out on the town and tearing up the hardwood floors. The music is perfect for honky tonk dancing and I can see it playing well with live crowds.

Raised Rowdy Gives Kyle Daniel’s “God Bless America” a Glowing Review

Kyle Daniel vaulted himself onto the scene in 2018 with his self-titled debut EP.  Not only did it make our mid-year and year end lists of EP’s, it gained accolades from Rolling Stone on their “10 Best EPs of 2018 & 10 Artists You Need To Know“.

We were blown away by Kyle’s album upon our first listen and then came our first live show.  To say Kyle, bandleader Seth Renthrow and crew captivated us would be a disservice to the level of attention they command on stage.  You simply cannot look away.  That is why we have been so excited for the March 15th release of their follow up EP What’s There to Say.

Vents Magazine Interviews LA’s Roses and Cigarettes

Jenny Pagliaro: “Echoes and Silence is truly a collaborative effort. Directly following release of the first album, I was diagnosed with Stage IV Breast Cancer”

Angela Petrilli: “Jenny’s cancer diagnosis forced us to shift our perspective with many things, including how we operated as a band, to the types of gigs we took. With the song “Echoes and Silence,” it was a song that started off as an idea I had come up with on my acoustic guitar. It had a very different feel than anything we had written before. Jenny came up with a beautiful mantra and this song was born!”

Kyle Daniel Talks Career History and New EP with Nashville.com

Kyle Daniel recently announced the March 15 release of his sophomore EP What’s There to Say?

What’s there to say when you’ve conceded to the hardships of life? Kyle Daniel wrestles with this question throughout his sophomore EP, aptly titled What’s There to Say? Delivering his message via bright melodies and a wall of electric guitar, Daniel navigates the trials and tribulations of being a working musician, failed relationships, being surrounded by addiction and growing up in modern-day America. Wearing his heart on a tattered sleeve, he pairs everyman lyricism with a rusty vocal akin to Blackberry Smoke, Will Hoge and Chris Stapleton, bristled with a warm guitar bravado. It comes as no surprise that he’s road-dogged as a guitarist for Clare Dunn, Jimmy Hall and Casey James, as well as opened for the likes of Jason Isbell and Miranda Lambert. These are rich, authentic stories told from the perspective of someone who’s wrestled with the ups and downs of being a touring musician.

Wide Open Country Interviews Nashville’s Boo Ray

Before southern country troubadour Boo Ray moved to Music City, he had been making the same trek from Georgia to Nashville for over a decade. Over the years, he passed the same sign for a fireworks stand on Interstate 24 hundreds of times and it came to represent his dreams for the future and the perseverance needed to make it in the notoriously difficult music industry. The sign became a mantra of sorts and, eventually, the name of his new album.

D.L. Rossi’s “Good Woman” Premieres on Americana UK

If tough knocks are the necessary path to meaningful music then D.L. Rossi is probably feeling he’s racked up enough now, and maybe it’s time for life to let him get on with the songwriting part of the equation.  Having started in bands at a young age, joining in with his older brothers, D.L. Rossi decided to pursue a career in music, initially behind his drum set.  The intervention of (successfully treated) cancer  encouraged him to kick up his pace a bit, and in his late twenties he released a debut album which rather shocked his social circle
