Austin-based indie rock band Stretch Panic fills an unusual niche: their songs are based around witches, vampires, demons, and other Halloween creatures. Jon LaDeau is a guitarist, songwriter, and singer based in Brooklyn, N.Y. Over the past 12 years, he has toured internationally in support of four solo albums, shared festival bills with Jeff Tweedy, Emmylou Harris, Sturgill Simpson, and Commander Cody and has toured nationally as a sideman with Kelli Scarr, April Smith and The Great Picture Show, and others. Since 2014 Jon has also found a home as a member of The National Reserve. Voted Pennsylvania’s #1 New York Band in 2019, The National Reserve has had the good grace to perform regularly by growing a devoted fan base and sharing the stage with artists like Tedeschi Trucks Band, John Moreland, Brent Cobb, Amy Helm, Margo Price, Daddy Long Legs and many others.

Glide is premiering the twangy salt of the earth single “Younger Days” (below) that hits home with its thick bleeding guitar work reminiscent of blues mainstays. LaDeau has a knack for hitting the sweet spot with a punctuating sound built on melody and narrative commentary. The economic sounds of Todd Snider & Hayes Carll sneak up on LaDeau’s presentation, earning him legit nods in both the Americana and Folk realms.

“It’s such a cruel feeling to be standing next to someone who has checked out of a relationship yet is still going through the motions with you,” Katie Jo lamented to American Songwriter.

Born in Wichita, based out of Los Angeles and inspired by country legends like Patsy Cline, Loretta Lynn and Tammy Wynette, Katie Jo is no stranger to the type of heartache that walks hand-in-hand with the aforementioned scenario. In fact, the retro-Americana songwriter explores that very topic in her new dreamy single, “I Don’t Know Where Your Heart’s Been.”

“With this song, I wanted to capture that awful, heart-sinking moment in time when a relationship hasn’t quite ended, but you both know it’s over,” Jo explained. “For me, this tune is really a little capsule of that, saying ‘indifference is the opposite of love.’ Whether it’s a puppy-love crush that isn’t reciprocated or a longterm partner who has one foot out the door, that holding pattern before a breakup is sometimes almost worse than the heartbreak itself. It’s even worse when it’s clear someone else is in the picture.”
